About Debra

I am a life-long animal lover who is curious and compassionate. I combine these traits in my life and my work.

By profession, I am an ethologist* and primatologist. My specialties include how primates and other animals respond to change, stress and trauma. I am actively involved in teaching, research and writing related to these topics and to animal protection more generally. I feel privileged to work on behalf of animals as an advocate.

Curious to know more? At the pages on this site you’ll see that I’ve provided some background on my education as well as the work I do through writing, speaking, and formal teaching and training. Please feel free to explore them. In addition to a range of other work, I am the co-founder of the International Association for Animal Trauma and Recovery and serve as Associate Director at the Kerulos Centre.

*Ethology is another word for the study of animal behavior.
